I only recently came across the Elizabeth Daly books featuring Henry Gamadge. A delightful, intelligent series, featuring the upper crust set of New York instead of London. Gamadge is an expert in determining the authenticity of books but this actually plays very little part in most of the mysteries. Smart, sometimes surprisingly intense psychological twists and turns with a charming cast. An interesting feel for the New York of WW2.

I like the characterizations and writing style of this author. the story holds my interest even on second read. I think they are rather unique
It was very good.... I loved it.. A nice mystery. I am ahuge christie fan but daly delivers and is exceptional
I came late and by accident upon the Henry Gamadge mysteries. I love mysteries that also teach me something...Gamadge is an expert on books (another of my loves) and every one of the Gamadge mysteries involves rare and treasured books. I keep hoping that all the Gamadge mysteries will be reissued and I look forward to all of them. Elizabeth Daly is a wonderful writer and I would recommend - and buy! - anything she wrote - sight unseen.

Recommend other books in this series. Would recommend this to other ederly mystery readers like myself who enjoy the read for the writer's skill and insights into characters and place.
Look, want a vintage mystery that is not boring or dated? Better than Agatha Christie, and US writer? I think Daly is not just one of the best mystery writers, but one of the best American writers ever.
