A lot of drama and good friends offering good advice. Cassa was kind of annoying how many times she ran away from her fear of telling Shamus the truth. For such a string person physically she was emotionally weak.
Choices are so important in life, but we never truly understand the significance of those choices until something tragic happens and defines them. We go thru life constantly questioning whether we made the right choice, but it is not until faced with disaster that that choice comes to realization. People try to make choices for you in your best interest yet they always regret it later because the person you are protecting will be hurt that you took there choice away. Sometimes people will plant false images in your mind stating you are never going to be good enough and therefore it forces you to make irrational choices to prove them wrong. Ultimately who do you trust when making decisions? They say always follow your heart.
Well it starts off pretty intense. A lot of people get introduced early on and it takes a few chapters to get familiar with the many people in the story. Once familiar I started to form some attachment. There's a lot of grief and depression taking place and you have to sort through it all.
I'm waiting for Cassa to share her past with Shamus. I'm waiting for Shamus to share his true intentions with Cassa. I'm waiting to discover what Jerry said to his son that made him leave without her.
Cassa was in an abusive relationship which almost left her dead. She walked away with both physical and emotional scars. Everyone but Shamus knows about the abuse.
The story is about Cassa and what became of her life when Shamus left to become a rock star.
It will tear your heart out to listen to Cassa explain what happened to her when a Shamus left her. It will also tear your heart out to listen to Shamus explain why he left Cassa. There is always two sides to a story. Both made rash and emotional choices for each other that led to very horrible circumstances that may have changed everything. Can Cassa find herself and overcome the abuse that she suffered?
Cassa claims to be a survivor and now she needs to determine if she is worth fighting for. Does she deserve her HEA? They both were misguided and suffered terribly because of it. It's time to move forward and build a future.
Why did you have to end it on a tragic moment?
I have never had such a book hangover, or had as hard a time coming to grips with a book, like I did Forgive Me. I absolutely LOVED Trust Me, but knew that what Sass had been through was so heartbreaking, that I have put off reading Forgive Me for a long time. I finally gave in two days ago- I kinda wished that I hadn't. Not because of what happens to Sass and Shame, but to Noah and Cans. I can't take it- literally, I just wanted to die when I read it. Nothing has ever been written in a book that ripped my heart out like that. I was totally inconsoleable after seeing those words. I am pissed right the hell off right now, so much so, that I almost don't want to know what happens next. I could never take that kind of heartbreak and gut wrenching pain--- ever again. I cannot fathom why Melanie decided to do what she did with the ending of this book, I can only hope that there was some divine reason behind it. Although, I cannot begin to imagine Noah without Cans. I just can't. I needed to know that Noah would get his peace and happiness, just the same as Carrie. But now, now I am totally gutted when it comes to Noah Beckett. For me, as soon as the ending came out, the entire story ceased to exist for Sass and Shame- it was solely about Noah. I love that Sass and Shame got their HEA, but I just can't bask in the afterglow- not after what happened.
I did give this book 5 stars, because I so loved the story of how this family came together again. Finally. I almost changed my rating to 1 star after it was over, simply due to the way the book ended. But that would have been an injustice to this story- I just couldn't do it. So, I leave my 5 stars up, even though my soul is screaming to tell Melanie how badly I hate her right now. I need to keep the faith that she knows what she is doing, and she is going to right this wrong- someway, somehow. Please woman, hear our cries and make this better!!
I don't even know where to start really. But let's start where the author did, with her apology for the lack of editing after chapter 15. I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry. Did she think the first 15 had been edited? I have a second grader who has a more solid grasp of the English language and proper grammar than this author, editor, and the numerous friends, family, and betas she threw under the bus as having proof read the manuscript. I can barely get past that, but had the story and characters been fabulous, I may have been able to excuse at least some of it. However the story was all over the place, there were numerous random bombs dropped solely to add drama, (which it did not need), and the characters were awful. I read the first in this series and enjoyed it, but this, well, I paid 99 cents and I feel ripped off.
